— Ethan threatens Nancy
|
Ethan Roark Jr, also known as Roark Junior or "the Yellow Bastard", is the son of Senator Roark, the nephew of Cardinal Roark and the half-brother of Johnny (The Long Bad Night). His public profile is that of a handsome, young playboy; In reality, he is a sadistic pedophile with a particular interest in raping and murdering pre-pubescent girls (it is implied that he "came by his proclivities honestly" at the Roark family farm).
That Yellow Bastard[]
Junior's atrocities are covered up by his father and the Basin City police, but Detective John Hartigan is nevertheless determined to bring him to justice. After kidnapping 11-year-old Nancy Callahan, his fourth victim, Junior is pursued by Hartigan. He first incapacitates Fat Man and Little Boy and Junior's car, and then ends up killing Lenny and Benny with a .44 Magnum Smith & Wesson Model 29 revolver.
Junior manages to escape when Hartigan's heart condition acts up, but he then follows him to the dock, blowing off his hand, his ear, and his genitals with the Model 29, but is stopped by Bob with a Colt Python .357 Magnum revolver before he can finish him off; Junior lapses into a coma as a result of these injuries.
As Junior undergoes years of surgeries to repair his limbs and genitals, Hartigan is framed for Junior's crimes and serves eight years in prison. The surgeries leave Junior horribly malformed; he now has bright yellow skin and blood, and emits a disgusting stench. However, he continues his depraved criminal career, having murdered dozens, maybe hundreds. He also pays a visit in Hartigan's cell where he punches him and leaves behind a letter containing the severed finger of a girl.
When Hartigan is freed from prison, Junior follows him to Kadie's Bar, where a 19-year-old Nancy is working as a stripper. Hartigan shoots him in the throat as he follows them in a high speed chase to Mimi's a local motel, but he nevertheless arrives, kidnaps Nancy and leaves Hartigan to die from hanging, but not before calling Koonz to prepare a party for him and fetch Fat Man and Little Boy to come to take Hartigan's body.
Junior takes Nancy to the Roark family farm and begins whipping her, hoping to rape and kill her afterwards. When Nancy refuses to scream during the torture, however, she realizes that Junior is impotent unless he hears his victims' cries of pain. Just then, Hartigan arrives, defeats Junior's guards and then stabs him in the chest when he takes Nancy hostage and threatens to fillet her right in front of him. Hartigan "takes his weapons away from him" a second time by first disarming Junior and then ripping his genitals out with his bare hands before savagely pounding his head into the floor until there's nothing left of it but a bloody yellow pulp.
Sin City (film)[]
Portrayed by Nick Stahl. The role was offered to both Leonardo DiCaprio and Steve Buscemi who both turned it down.
Sin City: A Dame To Kill For[]
In Nancy's Last Dance, Senator Roark, while finally admitting to himself and everyone else that his insane son would never have become president, gives his true first name as Ethan. Despite his death in the first movie, a post-surgery portrait of him appears in Roark's office.
